Frenchies & friends, 2024
Event Recap
The Frenchies & Friends solo exhibition by French-American street artist Sébastien “Mr.D 1987” Boileau kicked off in style at Alliance Française de Houston with an immersive, two-night Halloween-inspired opening. Drawing over 250 guests, the celebration combined contemporary art, French culture, and festive fun in a uniquely vibrant experience. Presented by PaperCity Magazine, this show promises a series of activation events and new pieces unveiled each week, making it a must-see for Houston's art lovers.

Event Highlights:
Music and Atmosphere: DJ Little Martin set the stage on October 30, while DJ Bloom energized the Halloween crowd on October 31. Guests enjoyed a lively ambiance while mingling and exploring Mr.D’s thought-provoking art
Drinks and Bites: BCI served French wine and cocktails and Sophie and Artisan served appetizer bites, while The French Farm offered French products. Guests also experienced the ultimate luxury treat with caviar courtesy of Altima Caviar, adding an indulgent touch to the festivities. Casa Maestri provided a tequila tasting station. Red Bull provided energy.

INTERACTIVE ART AND LIVE GRAFFITI: Mr.D captivated guests with a live graffiti demonstration on a 35-foot fence, even offering students from nearby St. John’s School a quick tutorial on graffiti techniques. Guests snapped selfies with Mr.D’s outdoor mural “Frenchies in Houston,” a 10-foot luxury garden gnome blinged out by Mr.D, and a life-sized plush unicorn adorned with flowers by Babe City Blooms.

EXCLUSIVE ADULTS-ONLY GALLERY: Inside the library, an adults-only gallery showcased three of Mr.D’s most politically charged artworks, creating a powerful counterpoint to the exhibit’s nostalgic and playful tone. For those interested in adding these thought-provoking pieces to their collection, they are available for purchase; inquiries can be directed to Mr.D at info@eyefulart.com.

COSTUMES AND VIP SWAG: Some attendees arrived dressed as beloved cartoon and comic characters, embracing the Halloween spirit. VIP guests received commemorative swag bags featuring Frenchies & Friends artwork, rounding out a memorable evening.
